Okay, this story about Selma Blair is a lot. The actress was taken into custody after an alleged meltdown on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York, and things reportedly got pretty intense.
According to reports, Selma allegedly tried to open a door while the plane was still in the air, punched one flight attendant and bit another. The pilot also reported that she hit her head against a bulkhead during the incident.
And it didn’t stop when the plane landed at JFK. Selma was reportedly taken off the plane in restraints and transported to a nearby hospital. During the ambulance ride, she allegedly kicked a Port Authority officer in the head, and she’s also accused of assaulting a nurse at the hospital.
She’s now facing state and federal charges and pleaded not guilty to the state charges in court Monday night.
But here’s where things get a little more complicated. Selma’s attorneys say there were several factors that may have contributed to what happened. They claim she hadn’t taken her multiple sclerosis medication, had been working exhausting hours on a film set and had recently fallen and hit her head. Her attorney says the combination of those things, along with the altitude, left her severely confused and disoriented.
Selma was diagnosed with MS in 2018, so that’s an important part of the story as this all unfolds.
Apparently, she had even been posting on social media like normal earlier in the flight, just moments before the alleged incident.
And believe it or not, this isn’t the first time Selma has had a serious incident on a plane. Something similar happened back in 2016, when she was reportedly taken off a flight on a stretcher.
There’s also a bizarre little footnote to this story. Selma has previously admitted to biting people because of social anxiety and awkwardness. She’s named celebrities like Sienna Miller, Seth MacFarlane and Kate Moss among the people she’s bitten.
Obviously, there’s a lot going on here, and with her medical history and her attorneys’ explanation, it’ll be interesting to see how this case unfolds.
