SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs announced their intent to bid to bring the CHL Memorial Cup to Spokane for 2026.
The Memorial Cup is the championship tournament of the CHL pitting the winners of the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League in a round-robin four-team tournament.
The last time Spokane hosted the cup was 1998 which set attendance records for the cup at the time.
Many Washington leaders came out in support of the bid including Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown saying, “Hosting the Memorial Cup in Spokane would not only spotlight our city’s passion for hockey, but also invigorate local businesses and bring the community together in a celebration of sport and camaraderie. It would be a tremendous honor and a significant boost to Spokane’s economy and spirit.”
