SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga’s Yvonne Ejim continues to make her mark on college basketball and has now written herself further into Zags lore.
Ejim became Gonzaga women’s all-time scoring leader in Thursday night’s win over St. Mary’s. The forward reached 2,178 points behind a 27-point performance last night.
Ejim surpassed the previous record of 2,165 set by Heather Bowman in 2010. She’s also scored double-digit points in 66 straight games.
The Zags got their 10th straight win and take on WSU Saturday afternoon.
“It is just a really an amazing feeling to know that I did this for my team, for the school and for this program,” said Ejim. “I am very excited and very happy I got to this accolade. I know a lot of people were rooting for me, especially Heather Bowman, so it is just great to be up there with some amazing people who have come before me in this program. I hope that my path right now just builds a new legacy for players to come.”
