COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Idaho Disaster Dogs announced one of its beloved K9s passed away Wednesday night.
K9 Murphy was 11 years old and has been working Search and Rescue since he was 7 weeks old.
He was deployed multiple times, including two deployments for disaster response in Hawaii.
He was also the inspiration for the children’s book Murphy Gets A Job, written by Cody Moore and illustrated by Tamara Markov. The book tells the true story of how K9 Murphy became a rescue dog.
Idaho Disaster Dogs says Murphy loved what he did and will be greatly missed.
