SPOKANE, Wash. — Applications are open for a newly formed summer camp giving high schoolers the opportunity to explore careers in nursing.
Pathways to Providence: Sacred Heart Nursing Camp at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane will be held July 7 through July 11.
Providence says this camp will offer incoming high school juniors and seniors a deeper understanding of nursing specialties. Students will choose between an adult or pediatric focus and shadow real Providence nurses.
In addition to this clinical observation, campers will participate in interactive, hands-on skills labs in the Dr. James W. Mounsey Clinical Stimulation Lab. They will be trained in self-defense, safe patient handling and emergency responses, including CPR.
Students must be entering their junior or senior year this fall and must be 16 or older to qualify. You also must be able to attend all five days of camp from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
