CLEAR LAKE, Wash. — The Spokane County Medical Examiner has identified and determined the cause of death of the teen who drowned in Clear Lake over the weekend.
According to the medical examiner, 13-year-old Addyson Shafer died of asphyxia and drowning Saturday. Her death was ruled an accident.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Spokane Fire District 3 responded to Clear Lake around 1 p.m. for reports of Shafer jumping off a boat and not resurfacing.
First responders searched for several hours before her body was pulled from the lake around 5 p.m.
