COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Police arrested a sex offender for stealing a wallet from a car in Coeur d’Alene last week.
On January 8, Coeur d’Alene Police Department received a report of a car burglary at Candlelight Church near Dalton Avenue and U.S. Route 95.
The burglary victim said a wallet had been stolen from the car.
Using video footage, police identified the burglar as 63-year-old Wesley Jay Decker.
Police learned Decker was from Thornton, Colorado and had an extensive criminal history including rape, burglary, identity theft, drug possession and failure to register as a sex offender.
Decker was arrested on January 12 and booked into Kootenai County Jail for auto burglary charges.
