SPOKANE, Wash. — If your weekend plans include shopping for those last-minute holiday gifts, you are not alone.
Super Saturday is the Saturday right before Christmas. It is also known as the procrastinator’s Black Friday and Spokane businesses are getting ready for the crowds.
“We’re definitely expecting this to be our busiest weekend,” said Alyson Alldritt, the manager for Uncle’s Games. “We’re working hard to get this store nice and clean and get everything out and just be here to help people at the end of their shopping.”
The National Retail Federation expects 157 million people will be out shopping this weekend, with over half of consumers expected to complete their shopping the week before Christmas.
“The Saturday before Christmas, it’s absolutely crazy,” said Joel Barbour, owner of The Great PNW.
The timing may not be the only thing bringing people out. Some say the lack of snow is making it more enjoyable to be downtown.
“Downtown Spokane feels like it’s a little more walkable this year than it was last year. A little friendlier, maybe also. The weather definitely helps us this year. It’s not really snowy,’ Alldritt said.
With these crowds, stores are taking advantage.
“We really try to capitalize on that and help people get a really great deal for Christmas because you want to be able to cross a lot of people off your list,” said Barbour.
If you are one of the shoppers with more people to cross off your list, stores in Spokane are ready to help you find the perfect gift for under your tree.
