MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. — A man arrested for burglary told law enforcement he broke into a business because he was cold while walking in Medical Lake.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a business near SR 902 and S. Bartholomew Road east of Medical Lake Sunday night.
The suspect, 59-year-old Russell G. Garner, was seen by an alarm company inside a business.
Deputies and Airway Heights Police officers saw a broken window and began to make calls to Garner inside.
SCSO says Garner was seen on a couch with a blanket inside and deputies were able to get his attention using a PA system.
Garner told SCSO he was walking toward Seattle, get cold, and broke into the business to get warm.
Garner was medically evaluated then booked into the Spokane County Jail for burglary and malicious mischief. The damage to the business is estimated to be $750.
