SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. –A SWAT standoff took place in the West Plains area of Spokane on Wednesday evening, according to Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Sometime between 4 and 5 p.m. on October 30, SCSO responded to a call of a man threatening another man with a baseball bat near Hayford Road and Geiger Boulevard.
When deputies arrived, they said the man who made the threats appeared to be in crisis and went back inside his RV home.
SCSO said he was not responsive to attempt to communicate, so they called for backup from SWAT, crisis negotiators and behavioral health units.
Deputies blocked off Hayford Road at 59th and Geiger Boulevard near at the roundabout near Amazon.
They told people trying to get home through the closures they would have to wait as the situation is still active and “dangerous.”
Around 7:45 p.m. SCSO said a suspect was arrested, but no details about the arrest were released.
Hayford Road reopened around 8 p.m.
