SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane pups are once again wagging their tails at the High Bridge Dog Park.
The park held a soft-reopen on October 28, after being closed for renovations since August.
The 10-acre park sits west of downtown Spokane near Browne’s Addition and east of Government Way.
During the months-long closure, crews cleared trees and brush, installed a new fence and expanded the parking lot.
“We’re really excited to see that it’s back open after the long-anticipated renovations they’ve been doing. We’ve been driving by and seeing the great progress the city has been making,” said dog owner Suzanne Austin.
The project was completed with funding from Spokane Public Schools.
Pet owners said they are glad to have the park back, not only for their dogs, but also for themselves.
“For a lot of us pet owners, this is also a great social aspect for us. A lot of my friends have been people I’ve met through the years at a dog park,” said Austin.
The City of Spokane said more amenities, like additional seating and water fountains, will be added over the coming months.
The High Bridge Dog Park is expected to reopen in Spring 2025.
