SPOKANE, Wash. – With the expected high temperatures coming in the next few days, there are options available for you to stay cool.
The City of Spokane says cooling areas will be available at Spokane Public Library locations or the Trent Resource and Assistance Center (TRAC).
Libraries will be open during regular hours on weekdays. The Central Library will extend hours on the weekend from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The city says Spokane Transit Authority will also offer fare exceptions for riders going to and from cooling spaces when the temperature is 95 degrees or higher. This remains in effect for same-day return trips during evening hours, even after the temperature drops below 95 degrees.
The Salvation Army also offers vans that can help transport people to local shelters. You can call 509-280-6860 or 509-280-6894 for a ride.

The city also says it will not shut off access to utilities for lack of payment during extreme heat advisories.
Gonzaga University’s Center for Climate, Society and the Environment also has a list of regional cooling resources, including an interactive map showing drinking fountains, cooling areas, splash pads, parks and pools. It can be accessed both online and in mobile web browsers.
Splash Pads are open around the city daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The City’s six aquatic centers also offer free open swim Mondays through Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with evening open swim available at rotating pools.
