CHENEY, Wash. — A man was arrested for violating a domestic violence protection order and barricading himself in a home near Cheney on Saturday afternoon, according to Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 1:15 p.m. on October 5, SCSO responded to a reported domestic violence protection order violation at a home near State Highway 904 and West Cameron Road.
When they arrived, deputies learned the victim came home and found 47-year-old Shawn L. Kostelec at her house, in violation of the protection order against him.
She also told SCSO that Kostelec had texted her multiple times over the last few days, which was also a violation of the no-contact order.
SCSO, along with Cheney Police Department and other law enforcement units, established a perimeter around the home and attempted to communicate with Kostelec.
Around 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, Kostelec came outside, but did not surrender.
The K9 Unit released a dog to take Kostelec into custody.
Once he was arrested, he told deputies he had been drinking all day and “didn’t care” about violating the protection order.
Kostelec was booked into Spokane County Jail for violating a domestic violence protection order and burglary.
