SPOKANE, Wash. — Several fundraisers have started up for the families of the deputies killed in the Spangle shooting on Tuesday afternoon.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to donate directly through the Sheriff Community Oriented Policing Effort, also known as SCOPE. Funds donated through this way will go toward funeral costs with leftover funds going directly to the families. You can find out more about donating through SCOPE by clicking here.
The Guardians Protection Project, a nonprofit that helps firefighters, police officer and military members killed in the line of duty, has already raised $10,000. It says the money will be split between the deputies’ families.
“It’s not an easy thing to go through and the last thing they need to worry about is how are they going to pay their mortgage this month or make a car payment while they are waiting for those funds to come in. So we are able to step in and help with that,” said Matt Costello, the founder of the Guardians Protection Project.
You can donate to that fundraiser online, at Hop Mountain Taproom in Mead, or at any Numerica Credit Union branch.
