BONNER COUNTY, Idaho — Voters in Idaho are getting ready to hit the polls on Election Day.
Across the state, voters will see a full ballot of measures, state and local elections, and a governor’s race. In Bonner County, ballots and lock boxes are waiting to go out to local precincts.
“I think people are chomping at the bit for this election,” said Bonner County clerk Michael Rosedale. “I think there’s a lot of political electricity in the air, regardless of what side of the aisle you’re on.”
Rosedale says 4,000 people in Bonner County have already turned in their absentee ballots and over 3,000 voted early. Others are planning to vote in-person on Election Day.
Polls will open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. If you are already registered to vote, you just need to bring a driver’s license.
If you have not registered to vote, you will need a photo ID and proof of address.
Lines at the polls will close at 8 p.m. sharp.
Over a thousand absentee ballots in the county have yet to be submitted. For those still trying to vote with an absentee ballot statewide, it is recommended to drop it off in-person at a drop box. Ballots put in the mail might not arrive in time.
Hundreds of volunteers are also preparing to run the polls on Election Day.
“Voting is one of the most important things we can do,” said Reny Rose, who volunteers as a chief election judge. “You really can’t complain about what’s going on if you didn’t vote.”
Election results from Idaho will not start coming in until after 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
