SPOKANE, Wash. — The City of Spokane is launching three major construction projects this week that will reshape traffic patterns through the fall. The projects bring lane reductions, full closures, and detour routes.
Greene Street Bridge work extends through mid-November
Northbound lanes will close completely as crews resurface the bridge spanning the Spokane River between Carlisle Avenue and Ermina Avenue, replacing deteriorating concrete and repairing deck joints.
Northbound traffic will be detoured at Mission Avenue and directed west to Division Street.
Southbound Greene Street will be reduced to one lane between Carlisle Avenue and Mission Avenue. Local access on Greene Street will remain available between Carlisle Avenue and Ermina Avenue.
Havana Street Bridge overlay project wraps by mid-October
Havana Street will close completely between Broadway Avenue and Mission Avenue. Northbound drivers will be detoured at Broadway Avenue to Fancher Road or Greene Street. Southbound drivers will be detoured at Mission Avenue to Greene Street or Fancher Road.
Washington Street project accelerates through October
Washington Street will close between Sumner Avenue and 7th Avenue on Monday, Sept. 21. Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22, crews will start the grind and overlay project between 8th Avenue and 3rd Avenue, including curb ramp replacements for ADA accessibility, stormwater system upgrades, and water main replacement.
Curb lanes will close between 8th Avenue and 6th Avenue. Additionally, 8th Avenue will close between McClellan Street and Washington Street, with traffic detoured at McClellan to Division Street. Drivers should prepare for significant slowdowns near medical facilities and Lewis & Clark High School. Local access will be maintained for businesses.
