Emergency Resources for Families Affected by the Spokane Area Fires

Local authorities, non-profits, and school districts have launched immediate emergency resources providing free shelter, meals, childcare, hygiene supplies, and animal boarding for families displaced by the Spokane Area Fires.

If you or a family you know has been affected, the following services are currently available:

🏠 Emergency Shelters & Daytime Relief

- Spokane Convention Center (Primary Shelter): Open 24/7. Parking is free and pets are welcome.
  - - Address: 334 W Spokane Falls Blvd, Spokane, WA 99201
- Spokane Falls Community College (Small Gym): Active evacuation center supporting families fleeing the Old Trails Fire.
  - - Address: 3410 W Whistalks Way, Spokane, WA 99224
- Northwood Middle School: Dedicated evacuation hub for those displaced by the Fairview Fire near Mead.
  - - Address: 6708 N Pittsburg St, Spokane, WA 99208
- YMCA of the Inland Northwest: All locations (North, South, Central, and Spokane Valley) are open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for evacuees needing a hot shower or a safe place to rest. Note: Photo ID is required for entry.

🧸 Free Drop-In Childcare & Family Support

- Shadle Park High School Camp: Spokane Public Schools (SPS) has launched a free emergency drop-in camp for families affected in the Nine Mile, Mead, and Spokane Public Schools districts. It runs today, Monday, Aug. 3, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM to give parents a safe place to leave children (ages 4+) while running urgent recovery errands.
- Federal Free Summer Meals: A free lunch will be served at the Shadle Park camp at noon. (Please note that standard summer meal sites inside active evacuation zones, including Flett Middle, Linwood Elementary, and Ridgeview Elementary, are temporarily suspended).

🧼 Food, Hygiene, & Supply Distribution

- Second Harvest Inland Northwest: Distributing food and emergency grocery resources.
  - - Address: 1234 E Front Ave, Spokane, WA 99202 (Open Monday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
- Project Beauty Share: Distributing new, emergency hygiene kits containing shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, diapers, feminine products, and body wipes. Families can coordinate pickup at 2718 E Sprague Ave.
- American Red Cross: Providing on-site hot meals, phone charging stations, and critical emotional support at all major shelters. You do not need to stay overnight or provide identification to receive their free resources. Track services via the American Red Cross Emergency App or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

🐾 Livestock & Pet Boarding

- Spokane County Fairgrounds: Open 24 hours a day for families evacuating with larger livestock or horses. The grounds have designated space for animal trailers, RV accommodations, and pet corrals.
