SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Some voters received incorrect ballots for the August 4 primary election in Spokane County.
According to the county, ballots for voters in Airway Heights failed to include the Spokane County Library District levy. A supplemental ballot will be mailed later this week to the over 5,000 voters that are impacted. The packet will provide instructions for voters on how to cast a vote in this issue.
A second set of voters in Precinct 6038 failed to include the Spokane Transit Authority sales tax issue. The 775 voters that are missing the tax issue will be sent new ballots this week. You should mark and return the new ballot, even if you have already returned the first ballot.
In parts of the county, voters outside of the STA district received ballots that incorrectly included the STA sales tax issue. Those voters should cast the ballot they already have. The county says even if the race is marked, the STA issue will not be counted from these ballots.
“I apologize for the error and the extra effort that will be made by impacted voters in Precinct 6038 and in Airway Heights,” said Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton. “Thankfully, this was caught early and every voter has the opportunity to cast the correct ballot.”
