Remember when music videos felt like events? It feels like we’re finally getting back to the days when artists treated them like mini movies instead of just performance clips, and honestly, I’m obsessed.
Two new music videos dropped this week, and they have everyone talking.
First up is Benson Boone’s new single “The Time of My Life.” The theatrical video stars influencer Alix Earle as Boone’s leading lady in a fantasy filled love story complete with a stage production, a dragon battle, and even a wedding scene. Their chemistry is so convincing that fans immediately started wondering if the pair are dating in real life. The rumors only grew after they were spotted having dinner together in Los Angeles earlier this month. Boone has since shut down the speculation, saying the two are “just hanging out.”
Then there’s sombr, whose new video for “My Body Isn’t Ready” has fans just as captivated. The cinematic video stars India Navarrette, who has become one of Hollywood’s newest breakout stars thanks to the horror hit Obsession. She is joined by Josh Heuston, who stars in Off Campus. Together they bring the emotional love story to life, making the video feel more like a short film than a traditional music video.
I am absolutely loving this trend. Between celebrity casting, incredible storytelling, and movie quality production, music videos are becoming must watch entertainment again. If artists keep giving us visuals like these, I’m going to be watching every single premiere.
