SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Fire District 9 downgraded part of the Upriver wildland fire evacuation zone Wednesday, moving some residents from a Level 3 “Leave Immediately” order to a Level 2 “Be Set” warning.
The downgraded zone now covers the area between Bigelow to the north, Gunning and Columbia to the south, Argonne to the east and Thierman to the west. Residents in that area should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice. Those with pets, livestock or who need extra time to evacuate are strongly encouraged to leave now.
A Level 3 evacuation order — requiring immediate departure — remains in place for residents between Gunning Drive to the north, Upriver Drive to the south, Northwood to the east and Thierman to the west. Anyone still in that zone must leave immediately.
Residents can visit Spokane911.com for current evacuation maps and up-to-date boundary information, and should continue to monitor local media and their phones for further updates.
This is a developing story. Information may change as fire conditions evolve.
