SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A single-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday afternoon left two adults with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries after a vehicle traveling at double the speed limit veered off E. Appleway Blvd. and rolled multiple times, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. June 16 at S. Farr Road. Witnesses told investigators the vehicle was traveling approximately 70 mph in a posted 35 mph zone before the driver sharply veered, struck a curb and rolled.
Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies found the female passenger trapped beneath the car and driver John M. Kelly, 40, pinned inside.
A nearby business employee provided a jack to help firefighters and deputies free both victims. The passenger was later transferred to Harborview Medical Center due to the severity of her injuries.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office says investigators believe speed and possible impairment are factors.
Kelly has not been charged while he remains hospitalized but could face felony charges depending on the investigation’s outcome and the passenger’s condition.
