SPOKANE, Wash. — A former Spokane County Jail corrections officer has been sentenced to 6 months in jail for custodial sexual misconduct.
According to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office, 35-year-ol Drew S. Seiffert pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree sexual misconduct on May 15.
Court documents showed between October and December of 2022, Seiffert had sexual relations with a female inmate at the Spokane County Jail. Seiffert held a position of authority over the woman, since she was under his supervision.
Another inmate saw sexual activity between Seiffert and the woman and notified a corrections sergeant.
Corrections Internal Affairs investigated the incident and turned the case over to law enforcement.
During the sentencing hearing, the victim provided statement said the sexual relations were consensual and Seiffert did not take advantage of her.
The prosecutors said Seiffert’s actions posed a safety risk to other inmates and hurt the public’s trust in the system.
Seiffert apologized to his former colleagues and to his family for his actions and was sentenced to 6 months in jail.
