WHITMAN CO., WASH –A bicyclist was hit and killed by a car Sunday night in Whitman County.
It happened just before 11 p.m. on SR 26, two miles southeast of LaCrosse.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a car was traveling westbound on SR 26 along with the bicyclist.
WSP says the bicyclist was riding near the fog line when the car hit it.
Both the bike and the car came to rest on the shoulder.
A 42-year-old man from Spokane who was riding the bike died at the scene.
He was not wearing his helmet.
His name has not been released yet.
WSP does not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
No one in the car was hurt.
The 55-year-old driver from Damascus, Oregon, has not been charged with a crime, but the investigation is still ongoing.
The crash closed roads in the area for several hours Sunday night. They reopened Monday morning.
