STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — A property tax levy to fund Stevens County libraries failed to gain majority support in a special election April 28th.
The levy would have provided critical funding for the seven libraries in the county and needed a simple majority to pass but only received 46% voter approval.
The rejection means libraries will face reduced programs, collections, and services as well as staff cuts, reduced hours, and deferred building maintenance.
