LOON LAKE, Wash. — A Loon Lake Marine Sergeant was gifted with a brand new, specially adapted mortgage-free home.
Sergeant Joshua Elliott was severely injured during his service in Afghanistan. Homes For Our Troops, a national nonprofit dedicated to building homes for veterans, helped create a custom home on Saturday that will allow greater independence and the ability to rebuild his life.
The new home features widened doorways, roll-under countertops and sinks, and a roll-in shower.
On Saturday, over 70 community members helped with the landscaping and finishing touches for Sgt. Elliott’s new home.
“I promise to use this home to bring good into the world and show appreciation for the gifts that others have given,” Sgt. Elliott said.
Sgt. Elliott will be gifted the keys to his new home next month.
