SPOKANE, Wash. — Two people went before a Spokane County judge on Friday who were wanted out of Sutter County, California on charges of murder and willful cruelty to a child resulting in death. Sutter County is just north of Sacramento.
Sherwood David Johnson II, 37, and Megan Mari Fredrick, 33, were recently arrested in Spokane County. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office arrested the pair yesterday and says they were living in Liberty Lake.
A public information officer for the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office says the couple is wanted for allegedly neglecting a child that was younger than 15 to the point that they died.
The case is from last year, so they may have been in the Spokane area for several months.
The two are not fighting extradition, so they’ll be taken back to California to face those charges. We expect to hear more from the Sheriff there on Monday.
Spokane County deputies say the RAVEN Task Force located Frederick at a residence in the 24000 block of E. Mission Avenue. They also located Johnson at a business in the 23200 block of E. Appleway Avenue.
SCSO says the Regional Anti-Violence Enforcement & Narcotics (RAVEN) Task Force consists of Investigators from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), the Spokane Valley Police Department (SVPD), U.S. Customs & Border Patrol (CBP), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF).
