SAINT MARIES, Idaho — A 65-year-old Saint Maries man died Thursday morning after his pickup truck crossed the center line and collided with a semi-truck on State Highway 3 in Benewah County.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:25 a.m. near milepost 86, just north of Saint Maries, according to Idaho State Police.
The man was driving a 2025 Toyota Tacoma northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove left of center, striking a southbound 1990 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by a 48-year-old man from Saint Regis, Montana.
The Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.
State Highway 3 was blocked for approximately 2.5 hours. Idaho State Police continues to investigate the crash with assistance from the Benewah County Sheriff’s Office, Saint Maries Fire Department and Idaho Transportation Department.
