4 News Now invited the community to share some of their memories and photos from their time there and here’s just some of the submissions below. Thanks to everyone who reached out.
Angela Cavalar: “My last birthday dinner with my Dad before he passed.”
Victoria Hunter Hoffman: “We have celebrated there a few times, when I have visited my kids up there. Sure I could post a family pic of us outside the bldg [sic], or the luscious steaks, but this was a funny memory. My grandkids and I writing our names on the bathroom wall. Great times there, so fortunate to have these memories. Extremely sad to see it gone with such devastation.”
Amy Gardner Yates: “My husband, brother, & I took our dad here on his first birthday without our mom. It was a bittersweet time together!”
Sheridan Newlun: “My almost 1 year old ‘enjoying’ a steak in 2023.”
Louise Bergeron-Jackson: “So many happy memories there. This one especially special as it was a Valentine dress up date night with my late husband.”
Jenna McFarlen Steinmetz: “Have been there multiple times but the last time was this last Saturday, August 31st where my husband and I celebrated our 11-year wedding anniversary. So sad to hear this news 2 days later. Such a fun and amazing place.”
Roxanne Chase: “It was my late Gigi’s favorite steakhouse and a *must* every time she came to Idaho to visit. My husband and I ate there last month. I couldn’t explain it at the time, but I felt very nostalgic and uncharacteristically emotional. When we left, I felt compelled to sign the guest book in her name and honor, something I’d never done before. Now it feels a lot like I was saying goodbye for her. So sad!”
Debi White: “Birthdays, anniversary, just out on a motorcycle ride and stopped in for a steak. We sure will miss the staff. Everyone was always so happy. We hope that someday you will be able to rebuild.”
Val Otterson-Finkbein: “We have been going there once a year since the late 1980’s. We were just there 2 weeks ago for our 43 anniversary. So many memories, always took out of town family there! So very sad.”
Barbara Streeter: “One of many delicious memorable dinners with family at Wolf Lodge Steakhouse.”
Katrina Feniello: “Many memories there with family and friends. We took our family friends from New Jersey there. I’ve had anniversary and many birthday celebrations there. Going to miss it!”
Cheryl Rohrenbach: “My family has many memories there. We celebrated my brother-in-law surviving a kidney and a pancreas transplant. My mom’s 70th birthday. Last Valentine’s Day with our dad. Anniversaries. Prom date. So sad to see it all burned up.”
Shelley Wood: “I got engaged there 31 years ago.”
Kelly Stapleton: “We went last September for our 20 year wedding anniversary and a nice gentleman paid for our dinner!”
Frank Long: “30th anniversary.”
Christina Godula Wagar: “My Uncle Ed used to drive all the way from Pennsylvania for two things: One, to visit me. Two, he always HAD to go to Wolf Lodge. He passed away in 2019, but it was always fun to talk about his crazy trips ‘out west’ whenever we would visit this place. My family and I are beyond sad to lose this landmark.”
