SPOKANE, Wash. — A new spot just opened in Spokane’s Garland District bringing delicious, hand-made Italian food and craft cocktails to the area.
Temple Tavern is serving up pizza and pasta made from scratch plus classic and modern cocktails.
Owner Taylor Rainwater makes the dough every morning and says it was a life-long dream to own a restaurant.
“[I] always wanted to be a chef, always wanted to cook,” said Rainwater. “And about 12 years ago, I nearly bought a restaurant. Didn’t end up doing it. And this space opened up. It’s an awesome location. Great neighborhood. And it was just time.”
Some of the highlights on the menu include the “Tribute” pizza with pepperoni, ricotta, peppers, and honey and the “Gnocchi” with hand-rolled potato pasta tossed in pesto with kale and sausage.
Some stand-out cocktails include the “Banana Bread Espresso Martini” and “The Monk”, a rye drink with Chartreuse, Fernet, and vanilla syrup.
Temple Tavern is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday for brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The spot also offers pizza-by-the-slice for the lunch.
It’s located at 706 W. Garland Avenue between Wall and Post streets.
