SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Spokane County Commissioner Mary Kuney, now Mary Brooks, has decided not to run for re-election.
Commissioner Brooks has served on the Board since 2017. On Tuesday, she announced on social media that she will not seek re-election when her term ends at the end of this year.
“I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by voters and for the opportunity to work with community leaders, dedicated colleagues and county employees,” Commissioner Brooks said.
Commissioner Brooks has served as the Chair of the Board of Commissioners for the past five years. She has also served as President of the Washington State Association of Counties.
“While my name won’t be on the ballot this year, I remain committed to leading the Board as Chair and serving the voters of District 4 until the last day of the term,” Brooks said.
