SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Spokane County Fire District 4 is reminding everyone to stay alert to fire year-round.
On Sunday afternoon, firefighters responded to a brush fire that had grown to roughly a quarter of an acre.
The fire was contained quickly before it had a chance to spread.
Fire District 4 says even though it’s cold outside, dead and dry fuels are still prone to fire.
Winter conditions can give a false sense of safety, but it only takes a small ignition source for grass fires to get moving.
