New Line has dropped the first teaser trailer for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, and fair warning — it looks terrifying. The original supernatural horror film comes from the writer and director of Evil Dead Rise, which should tell you everything you need to know about the level of nightmare fuel we’re dealing with here. Warner Bros. plans to release the film in theaters and IMAX across North America on April 17.
And yes, this is not connected to Universal’s Mummy franchise (no Brendan Fraser throwbacks here). Cronin’s The Mummy centers on the young daughter of a journalist who vanishes into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, her shattered family is stunned when she suddenly returns. What should be a miraculous reunion quickly spirals into something far more sinister.
Honestly? The teaser looks so creepy I only made it about halfway through before tapping out — the tension, the imagery, all of it is next-level unsettling. If you’re braver than I am, you can watch the teaser trailer below… just don’t say I didn’t warn you. 😬\
