LOS ANGELES, Calif – A movie that showcases the beauty of the Inland Northwest won the Critics Choice Award for Best Cinematography Sunday night and will likely be nominated for an Academy Award.
Train Dreams’ Director of Photography Adolpho Veloso took home the honor at a ceremony in Los Angeles. It’s nominated for several Golden Globes as well.
The movie chronicles the life of a man named Robert Grainier and is set near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. It shows the trials and tribulations of people living in the early 1900s and the changes that happen throughout the early 20th century.
While set in North Idaho, the movie was shot throughout eastern Washington, including scenes in Spokane, , Colville, Tekoa and near Metaline Falls.
The movie is streaming now on Netflix.
Train Dreams has a chance win more awards at Sunday’s Golden Globes.
The movie is nominated for Best Male Actor in a Major Motion Picture (Joel Edgerton) and Best Original Song (Train Dreams).
Several critics suggest it will be nominated for multiple Academy Awards. Those nominations will be announced later this month.
