SPOKANE, Wash. — Local students have less than three weeks to apply for scholarships through Inland Power & Light’s Excellence Award program before the January 15, 2026 deadline.
The cooperative will award 15 scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating high school seniors, continuing college students, and students enrolling in line school. The program targets members of Inland Power and their dependents who demonstrate academic excellence and community service.
Since launching in 1992, the Excellence Award scholarship program has supported local students pursuing higher education. The cooperative expanded the program to include students entering line school to encourage future electrical workers.
Students must be legal dependents who can be claimed on their parent or guardian’s tax return to qualify. Scholarship recipients can attend accredited schools in any state, with checks paid directly to colleges and trade schools.
An all-volunteer committee of five to 10 Inland Power members will select scholarship recipients. Applications require official transcripts (25 percent), personal profiles (35 percent), essays (35 percent), and two letters of recommendation (5 percent).
The selection committee will meet in February after the application deadline closes. Recipients will be chosen and notified at the beginning of March 2026.
