WALLACE, Idaho — The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identity of the man who fired shots inside the Sheriff’s Office on Friday afternoon.
77-year-old John Drake from Mullan, Idaho fired at a car and hit two women inside. Both were shot in the leg and have ‘minor injuries.’ Investigators say Drake then entered the Sheriff’s Office lobby around 2:30 p.m. on Friday and began shooting.
A deputy was ‘nicked in the ear’ and has minor injuries.
Drake and law enforcement were shooting at each other until Drake was shot and killed around 4:15 p.m.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and Coeur d’Alene Police Department are handing the criminal investigation while Idaho State Police is handling the officer-involved shooting investigation.
