COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Coeur d’Alene firefighter who was shot and injured on Canfield Mountain is back in north Idaho.
Tysdal was shot in the Canfield Mountain ambush in June. He has been at a Colorado rehabilitation center while recovering from his injuries.
The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department said Tysdal has been diagnosed with a spinal cord injury and is currently focused on coordinating follow-up care and ongoing therapy locally. At the same time, construction crews are still working to complete construction on the Tysdal home.
“The family is grateful to be back in town and is taking things one step at a time, including reading the many thoughtful letters and messages of support you’ve so generously shared. As the year comes to a close, Dave and Annie would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, with sincere thanks for your continued kindness and encouragement,” The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department said.
