COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A Post Falls man has been sentenced to 20 years of federal prison for the sexual exploitation of a child.
63-year-old Kevin Richmond will spend 20 years in federal prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release.
According to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Idaho, several tips came into law enforcement about Richmond in December 2022, saying he was uploading child pornography to a data storage service.
When law enforcement searched Richmond’s online accounts, they confirmed he not only had child pornography but was also producing child pornography with a child victim.
Police said Richmond also told people online he had access to a minor child for sexual purposes.
Richmond admitted to both receiving child pornography and producing it with a child using his cell phone. He also admitted to adding the child’s name to the child pornography he produced.
“We hope for healing for the victims of this horrific case,” said U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwit. “Idahoans should know our office and our law enforcement partners have no higher calling than protecting children, and anyone out there engaging in the abuse of children should know that we will spare no effort to find them and hold them accountable just like this defendant.”
