BOISE, Idaho – A Christian group in Idaho says it will work with lawmakers next session to name a highway in honor of Charlie Kirk.
Idaho Family Policy Center expects a proposal to be introduced at the start of the legislative session in January.
It would designate State Highway 16 as the Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway.
“It is intended to honor the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk and to denounce the recent rise of politically and religiously motivated violence,” the group said in a news release.
The group cites Kirk’s influence in Idaho where high school and college campuses have Turning Point USA chapters.
“Renaming the highway will serve as a reminder that free speech and the Christian faith are vital for a functioning constitutional republic,” the group says. “And that we ought never tolerate political violence as a response to robust civil discourse.”
Kirk made visits to Boise State in 2021 and 2025. He was murdered while speaking on a college campus in Utah in September.
