NORTH IDAHO — Calling all local anglers! Idaho Fish and Game is giving you the chance to win prizes while supporting the state’s premier trophy rainbow trout fishery in Lake Pend Oreille.
The 2025 Lake Pend Oreille Angler Science Program gives community members the chance to contribute valuable data to fisheries management while enjoying time on the water and winning prizes along the way.
Participants can contribute by recording catch data in logbooks and reporting tagged fish during time periods that align with local fishing derbies. The next fishing derby, the Lake Pend Oreille Angler’s Club Fall Derby, runs from Oct. 29 until Nov. 2. Logbooks are included with the purchase of derby tickets.
If you’re not participating in the derby, you can still pick up a free logbook at the Pandhandle Regional Office in Coeur d’Alene.
“Anglers play a critical role in helping us understand and sustain the trophy trout fishery on Lake Pend Oreille,” said Andy Dux, Regional Fishery Manager for Fish and Game’s Panhandle Region. “The information they provide directly informs our management decisions and ensures future generations can enjoy the same world-class fishing opportunities.”
Fish and Game says that last year, the catch rate of rainbow trout greater than 32 inches was twice as high as the year before.
All participants in this year’s program will receive a custom Lyman lure and sticker and be entered into a free raffle to win high-quality gear.
Completed logbooks must be submitted by Dec. 10 to qualify for the free raffle.
