COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – A professor who was placed on leave for comments he made about the Charlie Kirk shooting is no longer employed by North Idaho College.
A spokesperson for NIC confirmed that information Monday night, but would not confirm whether the assistant professor was fired or resigned.
The spokesperson says it’s a personnel matter and NIC won’t be commenting further.
The assistant professor made comments online about the Charlie Kirk shooting.
One comment attributed to him on Facebook said “Charlie Kirk once said that gun deaths are worth the cost of the 2nd amendment. Thank you for your sacrifice for our 2nd amendment rights. Thots and prayers you make it to hell.”
4 News Now has not named the professor and neither has NIC.
The NIC Board of Trustees went into executive session on the issue last week; it’s not clear what sort of decision they reached or discussed in that session.
The professor is one of several state employees in Idaho who faced discipline for comments made after Kirk’s murder.
