SPOKANE, Wash. — Construction changes will impact drivers in Spokane in the upcoming weeks.
Work on the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project in the city of Spokane has been postponed.
This work was originally scheduled to start on September 9, but the city says it is now expected to take place September 22 through September 24.
During that time, southbound lanes of Ash Street will be reduced to one lane between Augusta Avenue and Maxwell Avenue. These lane reductions are likely to cause congestion on eastbound Northwest Boulevard and southbound Ash Street.
Sidewalk detours may be in place in the area as well.
The city suggests using an alternative route to bypass the area during peak traffic times.
Starting next week, construction will close Rockwood Boulevard between Grand Boulevard and Cowley Street. The construction is expected to last through Wednesday, September 17.
Drivers can expect the road to be closed to all traffic during that time. North/south traffic will open on Rockwood Boulevard at the Summer Avenue and 10th Avenue intersection.
Summer Avenue/10th Avenue will be closed between Grand Boulevard and Sherman Street for east/west through traffic.
9th Avenue will be one lane in each direction to access the healthcare employee parking garage.
There will be no on-street metered parking available on 9th Avenue or Rockwood Avenue between Grand Boulevard and Cowley Street.
Sidewalk detours may be in place.
