MOSES LAKE, Wash. – The suspected shooter that injured two teenagers at the Grant County Fairgrounds Friday night was attending the fair with his parents.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect, a 15-year-old boy from Wenatchee, tried to pull out a handgun and fired one shot that hit his own girlfriend and another teenager.
In addition to a shot hitting the suspect’s 14-year-old girlfriend, who was also at the fair with her parents, a 16-year-old girl was also hit with the bullet. The sheriff’s office said she is an unrelated bystander.
Prior to the shot fired, GCSO said the suspect confronted “an opposing gang”, which led the suspect to pull out the gun.
The sheriff’s office said all of the parents were present when the shooting happened. No other shots were fired.
Ownership of the gun is still under investigation.
