SPOKANE, Wash. — A man was arrested in Spokane on Friday for kidnapping a woman who had a domestic violence protection order out against him and assaulting another man.
According to the Spokane Police Department, calls came in around 9 p.m. Thursday saying there was an assault happening near Greene Street and Sprague Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the street with significant injuries. The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
During the investigation, SPD learned that 36-year-old Taylor Gudgel attacked the victim both physically and with his vehicle.
Just before 8:30 a.m. on Friday, police responded to a possible abduction call. A relative called, saying she believed Gudgel kidnapped a female victim who currently had a domestic violence protection order against him.
Detectives were able to find Gudgel’s vehicle near a home on East 26th Avenue around 2:15 p.m. Friday. SWAT was called and forced entry into the home. Both Gudgel and the victim were inside the home at the time.
The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Gudgel was booked into Spokane County Jail for rape, kidnapping, felony domestic violence order violation, unlawful imprisonment and assault.
SPD says both the male and female victims were acquaintances and were seen together by Gudgel before the assaults.
