WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. — Firefighters are getting a handle on a wildfire burning in Whitman County.
The Central Ferry Fire is burning near Highway 127 south of Dusty and is currently 40% contained. The fire started from a vehicle fire and has burned about 6,600 acres, or 10 square miles.
Firefighters say the acreage update is due to updated mapping with the actual fire having minimal growth.
All evacuations orders have been lifted and there are no road closures, according to Northeast Washington Interagency Incident Command Team.
