HOPE, Idaho — Firefighters are still working on containment for a growing wildfire near Hope, Idaho.
According to the Selkirk Fire Department, the Lightning Creek Fire is now over 2,400 acres with no containment. The lightning-caused fire is burning about eight miles northeast of Hope.
An acre is roughly the size of a standard American football field, excluding the end zones.
Firefighters will continue working on containment lines with the assistance of available resources.
Snag/tree removal remains a high priority along the Lightning Creek Road in hopes of using the road as containment line when safe.

CLOSURES:
Area closure: being on Trail #237 east to the Idaho Panhandle National Forests (IPNF)/ Kootenai National Forest (KNF) boundary then closure follows the IPNF/KNF boundary south to T28N 34W S7. Then west along the section line T28N 35W S12, T56N R3E S15-18, T56N R2E S13-14 then north T56N R2E S11 and 2 north through a portion of S3, T57N R2E S33 and 32, then north T57N R2E S29, 20,17,9, T58N R2E S33 and 28 to FSR 275 (Trestle Creek Road). FSR 275 is open to traffic and then the portion of FSR 419 then to FSR 1022 Moose Creek Road is open. Areas south of FSR 275 and the open portion of FSR 419 are within the area closure.
