HOPE, Idaho — Emergency road closures have been issued for an estimated 200-acre wildfire burning near Hope, Idaho.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, the Lightning Creek Fire was first reported Wednesday night near the Lightning Creek drainage northeast of Hope.
Emergency road closures are in place. Lightning Creek Road is currently closed from the junction of Trestle Creek Road to Regal Creek.
Due to the steep terrain and nighttime visibility, firefighters were not able to reach it that night.
The location, vegetation, terrain and hazards prevented firefighters from containing the fire Thursday morning.
The Forest Service says the storms in the region caused complications for air support on the fire as well.
More resources have been ordered to help fight the fire.
