UPDATED – 8:30 p.m. on July 29 – Washington Emergency Management has narrowed the Tsunami Advisory from all of Washington to just the outer coast of Washington.
The advisory does not include the inner counties of King, Pierce and Thurston.
WA Emergency Management said ocean sensors indicate a possible one-foot wave at some points along the outer coast and possibly some unusual currents.
UPDATED – 7:30 p.m. on July 29 – The Tsunami Watch for the state of Washington has been changed to a Tsunami Advisory.
Washington Emergency Management said if you are on the coast, you should stay out of the water and away from the shore.
This warning applies to harbors and marinas due to strong currents and dangerous waves.

An 8.7 magnitude earthquake struck the ocean between Russia and Alaska on Tuesday evening, triggering a tsunami watch to be issued for the state of Washington.
Washington Emergency Management issued a Tsunami Watch for Washington around 5:45 p.m. on July 29.
As of 6 p.m., the watch is in effect for the west side of the state along the outer coast from the Oregon-Washington border to Slip Point, Columbia River estuary coast and the Juan de Fuca Straight coast.
WA Emergency Management said people in those areas should be prepared to take action and stay tuned for any further updates.
