BOUNDARY COUNTY, Idaho — Over 100 gallons of berries were seized from suspected commercial pickers during a backcountry patrol in Boundary County.
According to the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, the patrol was conducted to ensure the safety of recreational users and berry pickers in the county’s wilderness areas.
The Sheriff’s Office says the suspected commercial pickers are believed to be connected with an incident reported earlier this week involving U.S. Border Patrol.
“Our backcountry is something we want to ensure stays a safe place for berry picking and outdoor activities, we are committed to keeping it safe and accessible for everyone,” said Sheriff Travis Stolley.
If you often enjoy time in the wilderness, make sure to stay on marked trails, carry essentials such as water and communication devices and report all suspicious activity.
