SPOKANE, Wash. — The 17-year-old accused of hitting and killing a well-known member of the medical community last week has pleaded not guilty.
The teen faces charges of vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault, failure to remain at the scene and not having a valid driver’s license.
He is accused of hitting Sarah Doxey while she was running with a friend on South Perry Street on July 16.
Sarah worked at CHAS Health in Spokane and previously was on the leadership team of Providence Inland Northwest. She was a mother of two and an avid runner.

Court documents say the teen hit Sarah around 5:30 a.m. that morning, then ran the SUV into a tree.
The teen then got out of the car and ran through the Manito Country Club golf course.
Sarah was taken to the hospital and later died from her injuries.
The teen was arrested near South Meadow Lane Road and West Eagle Ridge Boulevard. Officers say the teen smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot and watery eyes.
During his arraignment on Wednesday, the teen pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
At this point, the teen has not been charged as an adult.
The trial for this case is set to begin on August 11. He turns 18 on August 18.
