COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – As two Coeur d’Alene-area firefighters are laid to rest this week, firefighters from around the region will staff their fire stations, responding to calls as the departments mourn their fallen brothers.
John Morrison from Coeur d’Alene Fire and Frank Harwood from Kootenai Fire and Rescue were shot while responding to a wildfire on Canfield Mountain last month.
Morrison’s funeral is Thursday in Coeur d’Alene, while Harwood will be honored Friday.
Firefighters from Spokane and all over the state of Idaho are in Coeur d’Alene and will respond to calls while the services are going on.
That includes firefighters from Spokane Fire, Spokane Valley Fire, Boise, Nampa, Idaho Falls, Shoshone County, Worley, Lewiston and others will take calls over that two day period.
“This is what solidarity looks like,” the Professional Firefighters of Idaho posted to Facebook, along with a picture of the visiting firefighters attending a briefing before their shifts.
